Rose S. Hoyt (Ives)

Posted

Rose Sharon Wingert was born in Harlan, on May 30, 1982, to parents Barry and Marie Wingert. She came home to a family of three older brothers: Luke, Jake, and Steve. She quickly went from walking to running to keep up with “the boys”.

Rose and her brothers were homeschooled and enjoyed their childhood days exploring the woods of Cass Township in Harrison County. She and the boys bought, broke, and resold horses. She loved camping and trail rides.

As a youth, Rose expressed a desire to be in law enforcement. She always had a huge zest for life and was never timid about anything.

At 18, she went to work as a Cass County jailer, reserve police officer, and eventually, a police officer in Red Oak and Glenwood from 2012-2017, when she became a Iowa State Patrol Officer. She was respected for learning how to handle her responsibilities in a professional manner. She supported her Blue family in any way she could. Her favorite place to be was patrolling in the dark to remove those that could cause harm to others. Rose served until taking medical retirement April 15, 2024.

In 2005, Rose married Robert Ives from Stanton and cheerfully rolled up her sleeves and helped him raise his four sons. In 2008 they were blessed with a daughter, Arabella.

On May 4, 2022, Rose met Jess Hoyt and started a great relationship. They married Nov. 17, 2023. Rose gained daughters Tegan and Briar. During this time Rose enjoyed life while sharing camping, boating, the farm life, traveling, and many social activities with her family and friends. After a second battle with illness, we lost her on May 7, 2024.

Visitation was Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Cuter-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel, Council Bluffs. Memorial Service was Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Glenwood High School Auditorium, Glenwood. Memorial directed by the family.
