Kail Thomas Brown, 22, died on Aug. 22, 2024, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb. He was born on Aug. 5, 2002, in Council Bluffs. He grew up in Woodbine and attended school there graduating in the class of 2021. While in school Kail tried his hand at many sports and activities including football, baseball, trap and wrestling. He was also a part of a school speech team that earned their way to state. Kail was working for Natural Fertilizer in Woodbine.

From an early age, Kail found joy in the great outdoors. Fishing and hunting were not just hobbies for him; they were passions that connected him to nature. Kail's enthusiasm for agriculture revealed his deep appreciation for the land and how to care for it. His talent for operating heavy equipment allowed him to transform his surroundings and make a meaningful contribution to the world he loved so dearly. Above all, Kail cherished the time spent with family and friends. His kindness created a welcoming atmosphere wherever he went. He had a gift for making people feel included and valued, creating bonds that will withstand the test of time. Whether it was a spontaneous hangout or a planned adventure, Kail's presence was a beacon of joy.

Kail was preceded in death by his aunt, Karla Melby. He is survived by his parents, Kurtis Brown and Katie Pedersen of Woodbine; sister, Kimberlin Brown; grandparents, Neil and Janelle Brown of Woodbine and William and Shirley Pedersen of Mineola; uncles, Kevin Brown (Amanda Landon) Logan, Travis Melby of Moorhead, Benjamin Pedersen of Council Bluffs, Nathan Pedersen of Council Bluffs, Nicholas Pedersen of Omaha and Kristopher (Pricila) Pedersen of Omaha; and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine. Alan Ronk presided over the service. The recorded musical selections were “Leave Out All the Rest” by Lincoln Park, “Life Ain’t Always Beautiful” by Gary Allan, “Phoning Heaven” by Waylon Wyatt and “Drink A Beer” by Chris Stapleton. The honorary pallbearers were Kimberlin Brown and Kinze Brown. The pallbearers were Kurtis Brown, Neil Brown, Kevin Brown, Kameron Brown, Dalton Frink and Travis Melby. Kail’s final resting place is at the Woodbine Cemetery.
