Robert Gale Loyd was born on May 16, 1946, in Pisgah, to Everett “Howard” and Stacia (Price) Loyd. He grew up in the Mondamin area and attended school there. Robert graduated from West Harrison High School in 1964. He answered the call to serve when he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Upon his return home, Robert worked various jobs before starting at the Mondamin Farmers Co-op in 1990, which later became the United Western Co-op. He dedicated 26 years there until his retirement in 2016. Robert then went to work helping Milo and Michael Ruffcorn on the farm. On Dec. 13, 1975, he was united in marriage to Margaret Clark and they were able to spend 50 cherished years together.
Robert’s fondness for the outdoors extended beyond the fields; he found joy in taking his kids camping. He loved the thrill of NASCAR races and the timeless stories of the Old West in the John Wayne movies and was particularly fond of Elvis Presley’s music. Robert was also known for the simple pleasure of visiting with friends and family.
