Matthew DeWayne Miller, 40, died suddenly on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. He was born on Sept. 28, 1983, in Omaha, Neb., to parents Sethel and Frankceal (Haley) Miller. Matt grew up in Omaha and graduated from Bryan High School. Matt worked various jobs in Omaha including Oriental Trading. Matt married Melissa Brummer on April 25, 2009, in Omaha. The couple lived in Woodbine. Matt had worked at Foodland Grocery Store, Casey’s, Grato Holdings, Perfection Learning and currently at Cubby’s in Blair.

Matt was an avid sports fan. He loved watching all sports and cheered for the LA Lakers and Kansas City Chiefs. Matt was the Woodbine High School athlete’s biggest fan. He loved to play basketball with the high school boys and then would be at their games cheering them on. Matt was a social butterfly and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He loved all kids and especially his nieces and nephews. He was Cianna’s biggest supporter.

Matt is preceded in death by his father, Sethel Miller. He is survived by his wife, Melissa Miller of Woodbine; daughters, Cianna Miller and Haley (Brummer) and her husband Tristan Johnson all of Woodbine; son, Ethan Nottingham of Omaha; a grandchild on the way; mother, Frankceal Miller of Omaha; mother-in-law, Julie Brummer of Woodbine; siblings, Marlin Haley of Hastings, Neb., Sythell Haley of Omaha, Felecia Haley (Larry Brown) of San Antonio, Texas, Marchita Miller of Austin, Texas, Marshetti Miller of Omaha and Shawn Miller of Omaha; and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at First Christian Church in Woodbine. Beth Fouts and Chuck Snow presided over the service. The recorded musical selections were “All of Me” by John Legend, “This Side of Heaven” by Riley Clemmons and “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa. The pallbearers were Derek Carroll, Justin Klaahsen, Nathan Johnson, Randy Christo, Colton Jensen and Derek Escobedo.
