Larry D. Gochenour, 66

Larry Dean Gochenour, 66, died on Sunday, June 28, 2026, surrounded by his family at his home in Magnolia. He was born on Oct. 31, 1959, in Council Bluffs, to Albert and LaMoine (Dougal) Gochenour. He grew up in Magnolia and went to school at Logan-Magnolia. Larry farmed with his dad, raised hogs, and drove a charter bus. He then went to work in the cable industry where he worked for over 25 years. He retired from Cox Cable when he was 55. Larry drove school bus #4 in Magnolia for 10 years. Larry was united in marriage to MaryAnn Kolhof on March 17, 2000.

Larry had a feisty and sometimes stubborn spirit and brought laughter and joy to those around him. He had a knack for telling jokes and sharing stories. He loved being outdoors, especially boating on the river and camping at Willow Lake. Larry and Mary Ann raised goats, which added some unique stories to tell. Above all, Larry treasured his grandchildren. He enjoyed time spent with them and celebrating their achievements. 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Kevin Gochenour and Charles Briney. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, MaryAnn Gochenour of Magnolia; children, Adam (Shelby) Gochenour of Council Bluffs, Jenna (Josh) Lease of Logan and Tyler Jenkins of Woodbine; grandchildren, Emily Gochenour, Luke Gochenour, Jasmine Lease (Jerry Tallman), Jaelyn Lease (Ford Wohlers), Jeweliana Lease, Tyson Jenkins, and Liam Jenkins; sister-in-law, Lori (Mike) Woody; and many other relatives and friends. 

A funeral service was held on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine. Rev. Daniel Steeb presided over the service. The musicians were Carole Gorham and Rex Gochenour and the musical selections were “Amazing Grace”, “How Great Thou Art”, and “We Are Young” by Fun. The honorary pallbearers were Tyson Jenkins, Liam Jenkins, Tyler Jenkins, Josh Lease, John Clark, Jeff Hatcher, and Jerod Pitt.
