Jim “Jimmy” Lee Pitt, age 61, of Missouri Valley, passed away on Sept. 4, 2024, surrounded by friends and family.

Jim was born May 28, 1963, in Council Bluffs. He was the only son of Edwin and Jacqueline (Vittitoe) Pitt.

Jim was married and later divorced Christina (Harper) Richer. Together they had two children, Andrew and Brandon. He also has three grandchildren, Ava, Owen, and Norah. He was a very dedicated father; his sons were the focus of his life. His family was always his priority.

Jim worked many jobs throughout his life including security at Wells Fargo, the local telephone company, and transport for the railroad. However, his passion was trucking. He was a graduate of trucking school and worked for Werner for many years as well as helping out local farmers.

Jim had many hobbies. He enjoyed fishing with his sons when they were younger. He also enjoyed football. He was an avid Green Bay Packers and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends and family during his younger years. He could always be found with a Pepsi in hand and some sort of plan for shenanigans.

He was a member of the American Legion and was Shriner and Mason. He was awarded the 32nd degree of the Scottish Rite in 1990, and appointed a Senior Steward in 1991. He assisted on both Missouri Valley and Crescent fire departments as much as his seizures would allow. He was also an auxiliary police officer in Missouri Valley for some time.

Jim is survived by his sons Andrew (Sharon) and Brandon; grandchildren, Ava, Owen, and Norah; and his cat Tickles. He is preceded in death by his father, Edwin and mother, Jacqueline; and many extended family members that he missed dearly. One of his greatest wishes in life was to meet his mother.

Services were conducted Sept. 10, 2024.
