Arlene Fern Seeley, 100, died on Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, at her home in Logan. She was born on March 14, 1924, on the Triplett Farm outside of Woodbine, to Orland and Freda (Schmidt) Triplett. She attended country school and graduated from Woodbine Normal in 1942. Arlene went on to teach country school for a few years. On June 27, 1948, Arlene married Dorrance Seeley at the Triplett Farm. Arlene then spent many years raising their five children while also helping at Dorrance’s filling station. She would run for whatever Dorrance needed. Later on, Dorrance and Arlene started the camper/RV business just down the street from the filling station where they worked full time. When they were able to retire in the late 80’s they began to travel. They took their 5th wheel and visited places like Yuma, Arizona, California, Texas, all over the East Coast, into Mexico and many, many other places. Wherever they traveled, they knew that God always had his hand on them.

Arlene and Dorrance were long time members of the RLDS Church, now the Community of Christ, where she served in the office of Teacher. They were members of the Logan congregation and later the Persia congregation. Arlene was also a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She loved to spend time in their flower and vegetable garden, where Dorrance was in charge of the potatoes and Arlene took care of the rest. She and Dorrance loved going south each winter and Saturday nights were set aside for the Lawrence Welk Show.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dorrance in 2020; and siblings, Arlis Triplett, Darrell Triplett, Donna Parr and Mary Peitzman. She is survived by her children, Cheryl and her husband Mike Smith of Omaha, Neb., Roger Seeley of Logan, Terry Seeley and his wife Sherry of Salt Lake City, Utah, Tana and her husband Don Kutz of Newport Beach, Calif. and Dawn and her husband Keith Mathison of Woodbine; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine. Connie McWilliams presided over the service. The musical selections were “In the Garden” and “Old, Old Path”. The pallbearers were Roger Seeley, Terry Seeley, Keith Mathison, Dan Seeley, Randy Muxfeldt and Fred Pitt. Arlene’s final resting place is at the Woodbine Cemetery.
