Charlene Rose Slagle (Rosa), 76, died on Aug. 28, 2026, at Azria Health Rose Vista in Woodbine, where she had been a resident since 2017 following a stroke. Rosa was born on Jan. 19, 1950 in Omaha, Neb., to Charles and Orlene (Siler) Slagle. She lived her entire life in Woodbine and graduated from Woodbine High School with the class of 1969. Rosa’s health issues as a child brought additional challenges as she grew older, but she met each of them with grit and determination. Nothing could stop her as she had a strong faith, a strong will, and a determination to enjoy life. Her faith was very important to her. She was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Woodbine. Through the years, she taught Sunday school and served on the church board.

Though she never married or had children of her own, family was always an important part of Rosa’s life. Her parents passed away at a young age, leaving the grandkids without grandparents. Rosa stepped into this role as the best aunt ever. She held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. She was a huge part of their lives, helping care for them from birth, watching them grow, celebrating their accomplishments, and creating countless cherished memories along the way. Rosa also enjoyed watching sports, listening to music, playing games, and, most of all, spending time with her family and cherishing the simple moments they shared together.

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jim and Steve; and brother-in-law Bob Baker. She is survived by her brothers, Denny (Peggy) Slagle of Dunlap and Ron (Konda) Slagle of Sac City; sister, Linda Baker (Jack Androy) of Woodbine; sister-in-law, Peggy Slagle of Missouri Valley; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives.

A funeral service was held for Rosa on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, at Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine. Beth Fouts was the celebrant for the service. The recorded musical selections included, “How Great Thou Art”, “In the Garden”, and “Be Not Afraid”. Pallbearers included Charlie Slagle, Bobby Baker, Cameron Slagle, Courtney Allen, Cynthia Proechel, Megan Phillips, and Trisha Cunnigham. Rosa’s final resting place is at the Woodbine Cemetery.
