Notice of Public Meeting MEETING MINUTES The Missouri Valley Community School District Special Board Meeting 03/23/2026 - 06:00 PM The Missouri Valley Community School will create an engaging environment that fosters inquisitive learners who can effectively apply their skills in an ever-changing world. Call Meeting to Order / Determination of Quorum President John Ferris called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M. on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the High School Media Center, 605 Lincoln Highway, Missouri Valley, Iowa. II. Approve Agenda Motion to approve the agenda as posted. Motion made by: Joanna Barnard Motion seconded by: Jessie Dewaele Voting: Unanimously Approved III. Public Hearing A. 2026-2027 First Public Hearing President Ferris provided the opening statement to explain the notice provided and the certified budget process. B. Board President Opening Statement: “This public hearing is required as part of the district’s certified budget. The notice provided to each resident shows the maximum property taxes the district will adopt as part of the certified budget which will be adopted by April 30th. Each speaker will have a maximum of 3 minutes. Your public comments will be considered as part of the district’s final budget decisions. IV. Receive Written Comments None V. Receive Oral Comments Five guests attended and provided comments on increased taxes but does not feel that everyone pays their share, thought of adding an HVAC personnel at an absorbant cost, long term view of increased taxes effects the sales of future property, and fixed-income personnel in the community effects on increased taxes, and provided information on declining enrollment and encourage to cut staff.
