Notable moments: • Both the junior high and high school winter concerts included impressive and entertaining performances. Soloists included Jack Haffey, Austen Bales, Ava Worley, and Ethan Evans. • Our girls and boys wrestling teams finished first and second respectively in the WIC tournaments, with seven individual conference champions. • National Honor Society students organized and conducted a gift-wrapping fundraiser and raised $1500 for the Hopkins family who recently lost their home to a fire. • Madison Sporrer signed to run track and field and cross country at Morningside and Allysen Johnsen was named second team all state for cross country. She also leads the important work of caring for physical health for the hundreds of students we have in our district. • Tami Dunham - Just like so many other teachers in our district, she gives 100% to our students. Almost every time I am in her room, she allows time for students to show me the many amazing projects they have been working on. One of her students even asked to come to my office to share with me his growth in reading. Such an encouraging environment! • Preschool and Panther Room Staff - They are some of the most patient people on the planet. Each day they show up to provide our youngest students with learning opportunities and they do so with smiles on their faces. There is no doubt they are special people! School Safety • Lanae Chase has been working on a plan to help our district become “Project Adam” certified. This is a cardiac preparedness program that is run through the University of Iowa. • We are working on new door plaques that will have our logo and be universal throughout the district. • We have been working on updating our Anti-bullying and Harassment Policy to be in line with best practice and state guidelines, as well as current practices in the district. • We continue to practice our Standard Response Protocol drills on a regular basis.
