Jermayne Tobias Kuhns, 28, of On With Life long-term care in Polk City, passed away peacefully on Sept. 30, 2026, after a prolonged illness during which he was surrounded by family and friends.
JT joined our family at the age of five and immediately loved all the commotion and attention that comes with a large family. He loved the nightly routine of Wheel of Fortune with the family; cartoons and movies, of which Barney was a lifelong favorite; and listening to his siblings and nephews and nieces get in trouble. JT attended West Harrison CSD and after graduating moved to On With Life. Through the years he loved making friends, being outside, going on outings, attending church and listening to music.
JT is preceded in death by his brother, Brenden, and his grandparents Jacob and Elizabeth Harder and Paul and Charlotte Kuhns. He is survived by his parents Kenneth and Charlene (Harder)Kuhns, his siblings Krista and Dave Melton, Chad Kuhns, Keri and Daniel MayBee, Craig and Stacie Kuhns, Alexander Kuhns, Clark and Tara Kuhns, Kacee and Dan Ramsey, Kayla Kuhns, Kayley Kuhns, and David Kuhns, and his nephews and nieces Trevin, Kyle, Kadee, Macy and Gracie Melton, Chas, Paxton, and Jett MayBee, and Dexter and baby boy (due January 2027) Kuhns.
A funeral service was held on Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, at Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine, with Pastor Joel Newman presiding over the service and David Melton presiding over the committal service. The musicians were the David Melton Family and the songs were “I’m Going To Get Carried Away”, “The Love Of God”, and “Walk Into Eternity”. The honorary pallbearers were Krista Melton, Keri MayBee, Craig Kuhns, Stacie Kuhns, Tara Kuhns, Kacee Ramsey, Kayla Kuhns, Kayley Kuhns, Trevin Melton, Kyle Melton, Kadee Melton, Macy Melton, Gracie Melton, Chas MayBee, Paxton MayBee, Jett MayBee, and Dexter Kuhns. The pallbearers were Chad Kuhns, Danny MayBee, Alexander Kuhns, Clark Kuhns, Dan Ramsey, and David Kuhns. JT’s final resting place is at the Soldier Valley Cemetery outside of Pisgah.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all of JT's unofficial family throughout the years, from his teachers and friends at West Harrison, to all of his home health nurses and family, and his OWL family for their immense support through the years and for all the visits in the past weeks. A special thanks to the Kavanagh Hospice House for their attention and care.
