City of Dunlap May 13, 2026 Mayor Knickman called the regular council meeting to order on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at 7:00pm in the Council Chambers, City Hall pursuant to law with the following council members present: Bonsall, Wingrove, Murphy; Absent: Schauer, Gunia. Motion by Bonsall second by Wingrove to approve the agenda. All in favor, motion carried. Motion by Murphy second by Bonsall to approve April 8, 2026 minutes. All in favor, motion carried. Motion by Bonsall second by Wingrove to approve payment of bills. All in favor, motion carried. Motion by Murphy second by Wingrove to approve consent agenda items; Alcohol Permit: Smitty’s; Tobacco Permit: Smitty’s; Building Permits: Austin Builders Concrete Care Center, Austin Donels-fence-Care Center, Benjamin Hansen- concrete, 4-Co Fair Concession Stand addition, Dustin Archer-concrete, Darin Kline-concrete All in favor, motion carried. Councilman Murphy gave a library update. Tony Warnock gave the Water/Wastewater report. Chief Miller gave an update on the Police Department. Ride-a-longs was discussed. Motion by Murphy second by Wingrove to approve hiring of lifeguards: Justice Garivs, Grant Olsen, Danyelle Steinkuehler, Sophia Malone, Amar Niang, Mataya Bromert, Lauryn Muff, Reagan Cogdill, Maggie Yanak, Hayley Follmann. All in favor, motion carried. Motion by Bonsall second by Murphy to give a raise for Gary Neilsen the pool manager, $16.40 per hour. All in favor, motion carried. MaryJo Bonsall spoke during Public Input about putting no parking on the west side of Ucon Ave. Jim Grimsley also spoke about the cat problem and trash in his neighbor. Chief Miller gave an update on the new Durango and getting it outfitted. Steven Wingrove spoke under Council about the concrete needing to be replaced by the dumpster at the pool. Motion by Murphy second by Bonsall to approve a Chevy truck for Public Works for $41,640 due to the Chevy getting totaled by hail. All in favor, motion carried. Motion by Wingrove second by Murphy to set a Public Hearing for Ragbrai Ordinance on June 10 at 6:45am. All in favor, motion carried. Motion by Bonsall second by Wingrove to adjourn at 7:47 pm.
