Kenneth Eugene Olsen, aged 90, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024, surrounded by his daughters. He was born on Sept. 19, 1933, in Missouri Valley, to Edward and Margrethe (Kalstrup) Olsen. Growing up on a farm in Harrison County alongside two brothers and a sister, Ken developed a deep appreciation for the land and the value of hard work.

Ken met Wanda Meade at the skating rink, where he found the love of his life. They were married in September 1957, beginning a 64-year journey together. Settling north of Missouri Valley, they raised three daughters and cultivated a home filled with love and cherished memories.

As a young farmer, Ken, alongside his brother Charles, dedicated himself to building the family farm. Together, they raised cattle, corn, and soybeans, laying the foundation for a legacy that continues to this day.

Beyond the farm, Ken and Wanda found fun in horseback riding, square dancing, card games, cycling, and cherished Saturday night dinner dates with lifelong friends. Ken’s memorable adventures included riding RAGBRAI over 20 years, epic hunts for deer, elk, moose, alligator, and wild boar, along with the challenge of trapping bobcats. In addition, he was a private pilot with an instrument rating. Through these adventures, Ken found lasting friendships from around the country.

He is survived by his daughters, Karen (Mike) Romero of Kansas City, Mo., Peggy Hoover (Dave), Sherman, Texas, Lisa Olson (Craig), Cumming; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Lois Hallquist and Ron Olsen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Missouri Valley Christian Church.
