U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS FORMER OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, ATLAS "D" MISSILE SITE 3 PUBLIC MEETING WHO: Interested Community Members WHEN: August 19, 6:30-8:00 PM WHERE: Rand Community Center 100 South 4th Street, Missouri Valley, Iowa Missouri Valley, Iowa - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting a public meeting at the Rand Community Center on August 19, 2026. The meeting will include an open-house style posterboard session from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM and a presentation from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM that will include time for questions from the community. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers representatives will provide the status of environmental investigations and path forward for the former Offutt Air Force Base, Atlas "D" Missile Site 3, a formerly used defense site that was used for the potential launch of Inter-Continental ballistic missiles until it was deactivated in 1964. Specific topics will include a review of site history and investigation activities to date, pilot study results, results from ongoing sampling activities and updated groundwater plume maps, plans for the upcoming vapor intrusion investigation, and the near- and long-term schedules. The public is encouraged to attend, obtain more information, ask questions, and provide feedback about the environmental activities at the former Offutt Air Force Base, Atlas "D" Missile Site 3.
