Golf event and more raises money for cancer victim
A golf event Sept. 19 will raise money for a woman with cancer.
Cassie (Bertelsen) Jensen was initally diagnosed with cancer in 2018. She was in remission for seven years, until it came back in 2025. The disease had spread to several areas in her body (Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer).
Cassie and her husband, Keefer, are pursuing a treatment for her that is not covered by insurance, which will be a significant burden for him.
Cassie and Keefer are lifelong residents of Missouri Valley, and are raising their children here — Cori,13, and Callie, 11. Cassie and Keefer give back to the community in multiple ways. They are active members in their church, organize diaper and soup drives to benefit the local food pantry, and participate in the Christmas Adopt-A-Family and the mitten tree. They coach youth sports and are active in the Harrison County Fair.
This is not the only way to get involved. You can also donate directly to Logan State Bank with a donation for Cassie. Or you can donate items for the live and silent auction, or items for the bake sale. There will be a spaghetti feed Oct. 25.
Both Cassie and Keefer are graduates of Missouri Valley High School. Keefer is a teacher in the district and is the former MVHS head wrestling coach. Cassie is the daughter of John and Carol Bertelsen of California Junction. Keefer’s parents, Tom and Jan Jensen, were longtime owners of Ace Hardware in Missouri Valley.
