Shop at Home !!!
Christmas Time is just around the corner. Thanksgiving is gone, and you are now trying to figure out what to do with all the leftovers.
You're probably already starting to feel the pressure that the holidays can bring: There's the planning to do, gifts to buy, food and drinks to enjoy, decorations to hang, hosting to take place — the list can go on and on.
In today’s world, shopping at your fingertips has become the norm. Curled up on the couch with your laptop or phone in hand, you start clicking away, knocking out the holiday “to-do” list.
There's no better way to feel isolated and disconnected this holiday season. And let's not forget how our communities benefit when we get off the couch and shop local. A larger percentage of every dollar spent stays in your community, and that creates and sustains jobs, supports local charities, school initiatives and other nonprofit organizations. There's proof to indicate that even going to your local big-box store — while not based in your community — has a better return on our local economy than buying from that same company's website.
But let's forget the numbers for a second.
Perhaps the biggest benefits come from not being curled up on the coach, but being out and about, feeling the vibrance of our communities and supporting our friends and neighbors. Let's not forget about the personalized customer care that our local stores provide, and the unique gifts that may not be carried by the chain stores because they can't get the profit margins they want.
So, this year take the time to shop locally, take advantage of Small Business Saturday and share your holiday spirit with those who are investing in Harrison County's future.
We're calling it "Live Here, Shop Here," and there's no better gift you can give to the place you call home.
