Street work bids could go out in Sept.

Missouri Valley could seek bids in September on reconstruction of Fourth and Seventh streets, City Administrator Turri Colglazier said.
The city plans to tear out and replace both streets and replace water mains below. Colglazier said the city paired the two for several years, replacing mains when a street is rebuilt, and is relocating the mains to the right of way.
"You don't have to go dig up a newly poured street if there's a water main break," she said.
A Community Development Block Grant obtained through the Southwest Iowa Planning Council, or SWIPCO, covers part of the work. Colglazier said the city applied twice; the first application was not funded. An archaeological study scheduled for spring was delayed. Colglazier said the study is now complete and the project is under review by the grant administrators.
"Now we're just kind of in this little waiting period where everything's being reviewed by the grant people," she said.
Colglazier said the project has been in progress for more than a year, beginning with funding and grant applications and followed by engineering, planning, surveys and studies.
"That's why we can't start the project until these little pieces are done," she said.
If all goes to plan, this will likely be an early spring 2027 project for the city.
