Minutes of the Special Meeting Board of Directors The Missouri Valley Community School District Tuesday, April 22, 2025 Call of Order President Jeff Janssen called the meeting to order at 6:06 P.M. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the District Office Conference Room, 109 East Michigan Street, Missouri Valley, Iowa. Roll Call Present: Jeff Janssen, Bridget Myler, and Carrie Watson Absent: Joanna Barnard and John Ferris Also Present: Superintendent Christi Gochenour, Secretary Ashley Anderson Approve Agenda Director Watson approved the agenda as presented, and Director Myler seconded. All Ayes; motion carried. Closed Session Director Watson motioned to enter into a closed session as provided by Iowa Codes §§21.5(1)(a) and (e) of the open meetings law to review or discuss records which are required or authorized by state or federal law to be kept confidential and to discuss whether to conduct a hearing or to conduct hearings to suspend or expel a student, unless an open session is requested by the student or a parent or guardian of the student if the student is a minor. Director Myler seconded. Roll Call vote as follows: Ayes – Janssen, Myler, and Watson Nays – None The Board entered closed session at 6:07 P.M. The Board exited closed session at 6:26 P.M. Action Regarding Disciplinary Hearing Director Myler motioned that the Board accept the superintendent’s recommendation that the student who was the subject of the disciplinary hearing be expelled from the Missouri Valley Community School District and any school activities for to be expelled for 12 months and that written findings and conclusions consistent with the Board’s deliberations will be prepared, signed by the Board President, and mailed by the Board Secretary to the student and family. Director Watson seconded. Roll Call vote as follows: Ayes – Janssen, Myler, and Watson Nays – None ADJOURNMENT The next Regular Board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14, 2025, to begin at 6:00 P.M. Director Watson made a motion to adjourn the meeting, and Director Myler seconded. All Ayes; motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 6:27 P.M.
