30th Annual Logan Village Green to be held June 6
The 30th annual Logan Village Green will be held Saturday, June 6, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Logan City Park.
The idea is to provide quality entertainment for families. There is a children’s zoo; fire truck rides, Deputy Denton and his dog, music by Rick Powell and Friends, Rudi Putudi the clown, rides, games, food, crafters, and city wide garage sales. This year our new addition is the Hansen House for senior living is bringing all their rides for kids and adults. Country Kickers from Omaha, Neb will provide entertainment, and the Logan United Methodist Church will have a kids table available.
30 years ago Helen Wetzstein, the Logan librarian at that time came up with the idea. She was originally from from Islip, N.Y. where they celebrated Village Green every year.
The first year, Bev Harter and Wetzstein made-up sack lunches, games and told stories in the Logan park. Businesses donated to help pay for activities and entertainment and many volunteers over the years have assisted to make it successful.
Wilma Wagner came up with Goblins on the Green for 20 years and Village Green Christmas Store ran a short time as there was little interest.
The Village Green committee helped with the rededication of the park, as Logan students, 4-H, Scouts, Harriet Brust and Wilma decorated the park at Christmas time. They also planted all the planters for 20 years.
The Harrison County Geneological Society will be on hand all day for those wishing to learn or share their family history. There will be homemade pies available.
