Lo-Ma Booster Club looks to replace baseball, softball backstops
The Logan-Magnolia Booster Club is running a Capital Campaign in an effort to increase their efforts to support the activities programs. The chosen capital project this school year is to install ‘Netted Backstops’ at both the high school baseball and softball fields.
Committee member Tammy Hinkel stated, “The existing backstop fencing has been in place for several decades and is in need of replacement. The largest reason is for the safety of our student athletes and spectators. The planned netting replacement will provide superior spectator safety, improved visiblity, and enhanced durability compared to the existing traditional fencing. The netting system will reach a higher elevation to better contain balls in the ball field.”
The goal is for the backstops to be installed and in use for the 2027 summer baseball and softball season, as they will continue fundraising through 2026.
This is a Lo-Ma Athletic Booster Club campaign, not a Visioning or Community Foundation campaign. Thus far, they have raised $15,500 through private donations, and will continue soliciting donations through 2026.
The committee has run a 'Split the Pot Shootout' promotional event at the last couple of home basketball games to help provide half-time entertainment and provide a fun way to raise awareness for the campaign. They plan to continue interactive fundraising events during the softball/baseball season, as well as Fall and Winter sports seasons for the 2026-2027 school year.
