HCCB Connie Betts, Willow Lake honored
Harrison County Conservation Board Naturalist Connie Betts recently attended an Iowa Association of Naturalists workshop in Des Moines where she was rewarded for the department for Outstanding Environmental Education Program (with two or less naturalists).
This award was given by IAN (Iowa Association of Naturalist) and ICEC (Iowa Conservation Education Coalition) for the Willow Lake Nature Center and exhibits that encourage visitors to learn more about water, watersheds, wildlife, and habitats.
Since opening on September 1, 2023, the Willow Lake has welcomed over 10,000 children and adults. This award is to recognize all HCCB staff that work hard every day to provide outdoor recreation, education, and wildlife habitats for the enjoyment of Harrison County residents and visitors.
