ROBERT COGDILL
CITY/TOWN: Woodbine
CANDIDATE FOR: Mayor
EXPLAIN WHO YOU ARE: I am the current mayor of Woodbine. Outside of City Administration, I am a grain merchandiser at Cogdill Farm Supply, and I am a farmer. I am married with three kids who attend school in Woodbine.
WHY DID YOU RUN FOR THIS POSITION? Woodbine is blessed to have a strong foundation of citizens who believe in a prosperous future for our town, and who are willing to volunteer their time and effort to make it happen. I feel that serving as City Mayor is the best way that I can assist their efforts, and keep our momentum going.
WHAT FROM YOUR BACKGROUND QUALIFIES YOU FOR THIS POSITION? As a manager in a small business, I've had many years of experience managing employees, serving customers, operating a complex budget and finances, and resolving problems as they arise. I feel this experience has prepared me well for the challenges of being a small-town mayor.
WHAT ARE YOU GOALS IF ELECTED? Over the next several years, Woodbine will need to invest in improving several streets, and other portions of our infrastructure. My goal is that we will work together as a community to meet those challenges within the constraints of a limited budget, and without sacrificing other development priorities. The City is due for a strategic planning session with partners including WMU, Woodbine School District, Harrison County, and community groups such as Mainstreet and Betterment to set priorities, and make plans for the next several years. If I am re-elected as Mayor, updating our strategic plan will be one of the first tasks for the next Council cycle.
