LORI WHITE

CITY/TOWN: Missouri Valley

CANDIDATE FOR: Mayor

EXPLAIN WHO YOU ARE: My name is Lori White. I’m a resident of Missouri Valley, a parent, a community advocate, and a volunteer leader deeply invested in our town’s future. Since moving here, my family and I have fallen in love with the community and its potential for growth and renewal.

WHY DID YOU RUN FOR THIS POSITION? I ran for this position for two reasons. First, there was only one mayoral candidate, and I believe an election should never be handed to anyone — citizens deserve a real choice and a real voice in their leadership. Second, I know I can make real changes. I believe in holding the City accountable to its citizens, creating an environment of transparency, and improving the way we govern, communicate, and serve our community.

WHAT FROM YOUR BACKGROUND QUALIFIES YOU FOR THIS POSITION? I served as a Military Police Officer in the U.S. Army for eight years, developing strong leadership, discipline, and crisis-management skills. Following my military service, I worked for multiple corporations in leadership roles across compliance, risk management, and contract management. I have managed projects, led teams, and coordinated with third-party vendors to integrate new technology and improve efficiency. My professional background includes conducting risk and operational assessments, identifying vulnerabilities, and partnering with business units to close risk gaps. I’ve worked extensively with financial regulators including the SEC, FINRA, and various state commissioners, ensuring adherence to the highest ethical and operational standards. Academically, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a minor in Entrepreneurship. I believe this city must be run like a city — with structure, strategy, and accountability — to be successful. I have the skills and experience to not only keep the city operating effectively but to put it on a trajectory where risk is reduced, transparency and efficiency are increased, and resources are used wisely to improve the quality of life for every resident.

WHAT ARE YOU GOALS IF ELECTED? 1. Hold Union Pacific accountable for excessive train-blocking times and advocate for enforcement of federal and state limits.

  1. Work with the DNR and PeopleService to implement DNR recommendations that address billing discrepancies, leaks, and meter issues.
  2. Ensure abatement processes are properly followed to restore neglected properties and improve neighborhood safety.
  3. Shift from a complaint-based to a proactive city model, identifying and solving issues before they escalate.
  4. Run the City like a business — increasing efficiency, cutting waste, boosting revenue, and improving the quality of life for every resident.

These are not just campaign promises — they are the things I’m already doing as a citizen and community advocate. If elected Mayor, I will finally have the authority to make the real, structural changes needed within the City’s infrastructure itself. But whether I’m elected or not, I will continue this work — holding leadership accountable, advocating for transparency, and pushing for the improvements Missouri Valley deserves.
