JO GRIMES
CITY/TOWN: Missouri Valley
CANDIDATE FOR: City Council
EXPLAIN WHO YOU ARE: I moved here in 2017. I wanted to be a part of the community. I started by volunteering to help with local events, then joined our local clubs. I took the opportunity to open a business which started as a hobby. I enjoyed the communities interaction, so I opened the WOW Center to help people mentally, physically and emotionally.
WHY DID YOU RUN FOR THIS POSITION? I’m running for a variety of reasons. I want to represent our community’s interest, execute infrastructure projects, store front issues, revitalize commercial areas, water and sewer topics and more!
WHAT FROM YOUR BACKGROUND QUALIFIES YOU FOR THIS POSITION? My background is working shut downs on power houses as a welder. I understand the importance of critical deadlines, sensitive budgets, working with challenging job expectations and multiple personalities that were not always in my favor. In the end, I gained respect because I showed respect. I’ve learned critical thinking and acquired “thick skin”.
WHAT ARE YOU GOALS IF ELECTED? Implementing projects that are in the books on hold. Addressing concerns and improving communication between city council and residents. Building a stronger city council, repairing the relationship between the community and the city council.
