BARRETT WHITE

CITY/TOWN: Missouri Valley

CANDIDATE FOR: City Council

EXPLAIN WHO YOU ARE: I’m Barrett White, a father, husband, and hardworking community member who believes in integrity, accountability, and leading by example. I grew up in a small rural town in Nebraska, where I learned that strong communities are built by people who care and take action.

WHY DID YOU RUN FOR THIS POSITION? I’m running because I believe every vote matters — and those votes should always put the people first. Each decision made at the city level affects our families, our property, and the long-term health of our community. I want to ensure that every vote cast by city leadership is made with the citizens’ best interests in mind, backed by research, due diligence, and sound judgment. My goal is to bring common-sense leadership and transparency to every decision, focusing on outcomes that make Missouri Valley stronger for the next generation.

WHAT FROM YOUR BACKGROUND QUALIFIES YOU FOR THIS POSITION? I bring years of management experience from Walmart, Sam’s Club, First Data, and now Old Dominion Freight Line, where I serve as a Planning Supervisor. In my role, I lead a team that ensures freight is loaded properly and delivered on time. I take pride in understanding people — what motivates them, how they work best, and how to bring out their strengths to achieve results. My leadership experience has taught me how to solve problems efficiently, build trust, and keep operations running smoothly.

WHAT ARE YOU GOALS IF ELECTED? Prioritize clean, safe, and reliable water for every household by working closely with the DNR and reviewing all water treatment processes and recommendations. I’m already educating myself on our city’s water systems to ensure we stay compliant, transparent, and proactive. Promote accountability and transparency in city operations. Support proactive maintenance and infrastructure improvements that prevent costly emergency repairs. Encourage open communication between citizens and city officials. Create a safe, family-friendly environment that reflects the values of our community. Lead with common sense, fairness, and respect for every taxpayer and resident.
