ANDREA OSHEL

CITY/TOWN: Little Sioux

CANDIDATE FOR: City Council

EXPLAIN WHO YOU ARE: I’ve proudly called Little Sioux home for the past 11 years. Alongside my husband, we run a trucking business, and we understand the value of hard work firsthand. Giving back to our community through donations and volunteer efforts is something we truly believe in. We’re honored to be part of this wonderful small town.

WHY DID YOU RUN FOR THIS POSITION? I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of our citizens through the years and understand a lot of their concerns and desires. My priority is to ensure that these voices are heard. I’ve always believed in the power of community, and while being a good neighbor is important, I feel called to do more. I want to help address the challenges our city faces by working toward practical solutions, introducing new ideas that help our community and creating a safe welcoming community that attracts new families. My goal is to be part of a city council that listens, leads, and builds a stronger future for all of us.

WHAT FROM YOUR BACKGROUND QUALIFIES YOU FOR THIS POSITION? Growing up as the daughter of a 45-year police veteran, I gained early insight into how local government works—and the importance of community service. I’ve always felt called to be a voice for others and help find common ground. I approach conflict with empathy, seeking to understand all perspectives and work toward meaningful solutions. After attending many town meetings, I’m confident in my understanding of the responsibilities and ready to serve our community with dedication.

WHAT ARE YOU GOALS IF ELECTED? More than anything, I want to see our town thrive as a safe, welcoming place where individuals and families feel proud to live. One of my key goals is to establish an official neighborhood watch program to promote safety and strengthen community connections. I also hope to bring more events to our town and make better use of our social hall to encourage togetherness and local pride. Increasing community involvement in city decisions and events is another priority — because when more voices are heard, we all benefit. Serving our community on the city council would be a true honor, and I kindly ask for your support as we work together to build a stronger, safer, and more flourishing town.
