Trojans pull away from Big Reds
Missouri Valley was game for three quarters, but Tri-Center put on the finishing touches with a 36-7 win over the Big Reds in Class 1A, D-8 play on Oct. 10 at Tri-Center.
“This team is finding out they can compete with the top teams,” stated Head Coach Dontae Allen. “But they still struggle with finding a way to play a complete game, not just two-or-three quarters. We’re still battling to the end, and that’s all I can ask.”
Dylan Davis finished with 104 yards passing, including a touchdown pass. Owen Becerra (6 receptions / 64 yds / 1 TD) became the school’s all-time career reception leader.
Lukas Cleaver (10 tackles), Jack Handlos (8.5 tackles), James Wendt (8 tackles, 1 INT) and Carter Tiffey (8 tackles, 1 fumble recovery) had a solid effort on the defensive side.
“We want to finish the season strong, and we get to finish against a high quality program in Treynor,” Allen concluded. “We have everything to gain this game. Our seniors will be giving their all in their final game.”
Up Next (Oct. 17): Missouri Valley (0-4, 0-7) will finish out the regular season when they travel to 1A, District 8 Champion, Treynor.
