FB: Lo-Ma tops MV in Harrison County clash

Woodbine, Boyer Valley secure 8-Man, D-10 District Opening Wins

FOOTBALL RECAP, Week 2 (Sept. 4, 2026)

11-Man:  Logan-Magnolia 27   Missouri Valley 7

Logan-Magnolia scored on two second half possessions to secure a 27-7 win over Missouri Valley in non-district play on Sept. 4 at Missouri Valley.

Lo-Ma’s Ashton Peszulik (168 yards passing, 2 TDs), Max Wingert (127 yard rushing, 2 TDs) and Zach Diggins (99 yards receving, 2 TDs) had big offensive nights for the Panthers.

Defensively, Wingert (6.5 tackles), Keenan Kuhlman (5.5 tackles, 1 INT), Hunter Prier (4.5 tackles) and Robert Bothwell (3.5 tackles) led the defensive effort.

“We knew going in, it was going to be a very physical game,” stated Panthers Head Coach Jack West. “They did a tremendous job of controlling the tempo. We trusted our technique, and did a better job of improving getting off the blocks. We had great balance offensively, and our guys up front, Brendyn Myer, Bronxx Brown, Ethan Hack, Hunter Prier, Tyler Guritz, Jett Straight, and Patrick Connealy paved the way.”

 

Missouri Valley’s Jack Handlos (79 yards, 1 TD) and Luke Schroeder (66 yards) led the Big Reds ground attack.

The Big Reds defense was led by Handlos (12 tackles), James Wendt (8.5 tackles), and Draeson Allen (4.5 tackles).

“We gave our best effort of the season, and I was extremely proud of our fight,” stated Missouri Valley’s Jake Driver. “We didn’t get enough stops in the second half, and that’s where they won the game. The loss hurt, but we know we are close to reaching that next step. We’ll keep plugging away, and prepare for this week.”

 

Logan-Magnolia (2-0) will host Council Bluffs St. Albert in the Class A, District 8 opener on Sept. 11; will be at Westwood (Sloan) on Sept. 18.

Missouri Valley (0-3) will be at Lawton-Bronson on Sept. 11, and host Red Oak in the Class 1A, District 8 opener on Sept. 18 for Homecoming.

 

 

8-Man:   Woodbine 90 Sidney 0

Cal Pryor threw five touchdown passes for 226 yards in the Tigers 90-0 win at Sidney on Sept. 4 in the 8-Man, District 10 opener.

“We came out and did what we needed to do,” stated Head Coach Dustin Crook. “Everything was working offensively for us, as our execution was much better then the first week.”

Landon Blum finished with six receptions (217 yards), including four touchdowns. Blum became the All-Time State Leader in career touchdown receptions (63 TDs / 8-Man).

Ayden Coenen and Brayden Blum both had one touchdown receptions.

Defensively, Brock Crook (6 tackles), Lawson Bendgen (4.5 tackles, one INT) and Jacob Cogdill (3.5 tackles) had big nights for the Tigers. Spencer Munk and Lucas Olson had fumble recoveries. Micah Moores had an interception, returning it 23 yards for a touchdown.

“Defensively, our guys stepped up,” Crook stated abou the Tigers’ five forced turnovers. “Our second and third string guys saw plenty of action, plus we earned the all-important firs district win.”

Woodbine (1-0, 2-0) will be at Fremont-Mills on Sept. 11, and host Stanton/Essex on Sept. 18 for Homecoming.

 

 

8-Man:   Boyer Valley 35   Fremont-Mills 16

Boyer Valley controlled the tempo from start to finish in a 35-16 win over Fremont-Mills in the 8-Man, District 10 opener on Sept. 4 in Dunlap.

“We played extremely well, and I like the improvement we made from the first to the second week,” stated Head Coach Jeremy Christiansen. “We had a couple of untimed turnovers, but our defense did their job and held their ground.”

Brody Koski had a huge night, both rushing (157 yards, 1 TD), and passing (155 yards, 3 TDs). Cameron Flaherty (47 rushing yds, 1 TD) and Tristen Burkhart (66 receiving yards, 3 TDs) added to the offensive scoring punch.

On defense, Koski added 14 tackles, and a fumble recovery. Braxton Donscheski, Trevan Krajicek, and Burkhart also had fumble recoveries for the Bulldogs.

“Our defense got better as the game went on, and we battled to the end,” Christiansen concluded. “We cut down on the missed tackles we had in the first quarter, and did a better job of limiting their explosive plays.”

 

Boyer Valley (1-0, 2-0) will be at Coon Rapids-Bayard on Sept. 11, and be at Glidden-Ralston on Sept. 18, as 8-Man, District 10 action continues.
