Knights clip Bulldogs in District Opener
Fremont-Mills held off Boyer Valley’s late charge, as the Knights tipped the Bulldogs, 20-18, in the 8-Man, District 10 opener on Sept. 5 at Tabor.
“Both teams played great defense, there were just a few alignment details that was the difference,” stated Head Coach Jeremy Christiansen. “We put ourselves in position to win, and these are the types of games you learn from.”
Levi Reineke ran for 73 yards and a touchdown, with Tristen Burkhart adding 117 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Lucas Lantz (10 tackles) and Brody Koski (8 tackles) led a solid defensive effort, with Justice Garvis adding an interception.
“Being in these types of close early season games, knowing every little detail matters, will only benefit us down the road,” Christiansen stated. “We saw a lot of great things in every facet of the game, no matter what the score stated at the end.”
Up Next (Sept. 19): Due to lack of 8-man teams in the area, Boyer Valley receives a bye in the third week (Sept. 12) of the high school football season, and will return to play on Sept. 19, when they host Glidden-Ralston for their final non-district match-up of the season.
