First half lifts Tigers past Bulldogs
Woodbine used a huge first half to post a 52-7 win over Boyer Valley in 8-Man, District 10 action on Oct. 9 in Dunlap. This was Woodbine’s second straight district title.
“Our guys were focused and locked in the entire week,” stated Woodbine Head Coach Dustin Crook. “After their only score, we made some adjustments and took them completely out of their game. Our defense played lights out, and our offense worked with a short field the entire night.”
Woodbine’s Cal Pryor (160 yards passing, 2 TDs / 20 yards rushing, 2 TDs) paced the offensive attack. Reagan Blum (32 yards rushing, 2 TDs) and Blaine Leaders (38 yards, 1 TD) led the ground attack, with Ayden Coenen (5 receptions, 55 yds, 1 TD) and Brayden Blum (4 receptions, 34 yards, 1 TD) were his top targets.
Defensively, Pryor (9 tackles), Blum (5.5 tackles), and Brock Crook (5.5 tackles, 1 fumble recovery) led the Tigers defense. Woodbine’s defense forced four turnovers.
“Our defense played well for the most part, but they worked with a short field a majority of the night,” stated Boyer Valley Head Coach Jeremy Christiansen. “Last week’s game is behind us, we have to be ready for this week’s battle as we prepare for the post-season. We can’t look past anyone, and need to take care of business this week.”
Boyer Valley’s Brody Koski (104 yards passing / 38 yards rushing) and Jericho Ingram (18 yards rushing, 1 TD / 18 yards receiving) led the Bulldogs offense.
BV’s Zach Sandvold (8.0 tackles, 1 INT), Ingram (7.5 tackles) and Tristen Burkhart (7.0 tackles) led the Bulldogs defense.
Up Next (Oct. 16): Woodbine (5-0, 7-0) has finished the regular season, and will wait for their first round playoff pairing. Boyer Valley (3-1, 5-2) will finish up the regular season this week at Sidney.
