Fast start leads Eagles past Big Reds

Underwood scored on five first half drives and cruised to a 56-7 win over Missouri Valley for Homecoming on Oct. 3 at the Big Reds Sports Complex.

“Our guys battled to the end, and that’s all we ask,” stated Head Coach Dontea Allen. “They were physical at the point of attack, and we didn’t get any push up front. Dylan (Davis) did an outstanding job finding guys all night.”

Dylan Davis finished with 227 yards passing and one touchdown pass, with Owen Becerra (five receptions, 109 yards, 1 TD), and Ryder O’Dowd (six receptions, 86 yds) being the top targets.

Jack Handlos (9 tackles), James Wendt (8 tackles) and Carter Tiffey (4 tackles) were the top defender. Both Becerra and Lukas Cleaver had one interception apiece.

“We know we’ll have our hands full the next two weeks, but these are just chances for our guys to prove themselves in one of the top district in the state,” Allen concluded. “We’ll get a game plan in place, put our guys in position to make plays, we’re still searching for that complete game effort.”

Up Next (Oct. 10): Missouri Valley (0-3, 0-6) will be at Tri-Center this week as Class 1A, District 8 action continues.
