Big Reds can’t slow Panthers
It was a tough night all the way around, as Missouri Valley couldn’t manufacture any offense in a 31-0 loss to rival Logan-Magnolia in non-district play on Sept. 5 at Logan.
“One of our goals was to stay close early, and be competitive from the start,” stated Head Coach Dontae Allen. “We did that in the first quarter, I liked our effort.”
Missouri Valley’s Jack Handlos (9.0 tackles), James Wendt (8.0 tackles), Lukas Cleaver (7.5 tackles) and Luke Schroeder (7.0 tackles) led a strong defensive effort for the Big Reds. But they could not overcome the offensive penalties or turnovers that stopped any momentum.
“When you play teams like Logan, who is disciplined, sound in their schemes, and compete as hard as they do, you can’t give them extra chances,” Allen concluded. “We gave them too many chances, and it just makes it harder to compete. We didn’t give up, as we allowed just three second half points, so we will build, learn and move forward.”
Up Next (Sept. 12): Missouri Valley (0-2) will host Lawton-Bronson in the final non-district contest of the season this week at the Big Reds Sports Complex.
