Tigers roll in playoff opener

Woodbine left little doubt in the 78-6 rout over Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton in the first round of the 8-Man State Football Playoffs. The Tigers scored on seven of eight first half drives, and the first four drives of the second half to put this game away.

“We were efficient on offense and spread the ball around,” Tigers’ Head Coach Dustin Crook stated. “Micah gave us some big yards on the ground, and our special teams had a great night.”

Brody Pryor (158 yards passing, 4 TDs) and Micah Moores (67 yards rushing, 4 TDs) led a solid offensive attack. Ayden Coenen (2 TDs), Dillon Reed (1 TD) and Brenner Sullivan (1 TD) all had scoring receptions.

Joe Freund (11.5 tackles, 1 INT), Blaine Leaders (5.5 tackles), and Cal Pryor (5.0 tackles) led the Tigers defense. Reed also added a fumble recovery.

“We had to shake off the rust, but we worked through that,” Crook concluded. “We still have some stuff to correct, but we’re happy with the result. Our goals are in front of us and within reach. This group is hungry, and we’ll get after it this week.”

Up Next (Oct. 31): Woodbine (8-0) will host Southeast Warren (7-2) in the second round of the State Playoffs this week at the Henry Boone Field in Woodbine.
