Dunlap Community Vacation Bible School Set for July 6-9
Children from across the Dunlap area are invited to embark on an Alaskan-themed adventure during this year’s Dunlap Community Vacation Bible School, scheduled for July 6-9 at the St. Patrick Parish Center in Dunlap.
The program, themed ‘True North: Trusting Jesus in a Wild World’, is open to all children who have completed one year of preschool through sixth grade. Activities will take place Monday through Thursday from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. A meal will be provided each evening.
“The Vacation Bible School has been working for months to get ready for this year’s week” said Andi Sharp, a member of the Dunlap Vacation Bible School committee. “I love how Christians of all religions come together to make a memorable experience for young people in our community.”
The annual event brings together volunteers and congregations from multiple local churches to provide a week of faith-based learning, activities, music and fellowship.
“We have decided to continue to have Dunlap Vacation Bible School at the St. Patrick Parish Center because the ease of parking and the layout of the building make it conducive for hosting nearly 100 children from preschool through sixth grade every year,” Sharp said.
Participating churches continue to share responsibilities throughout the week.
“The churches involved still share the duties and host a meal during the week,” Sharp said.
According to curriculum materials, children will be immersed in an Alaskan-themed experience featuring majestic mountains, rushing rivers and glaciers while learning lessons centered on faith and trust in Jesus.
The curriculum emphasizes that Jesus is a faithful friend who can be trusted through life’s challenges, helping children stay focused on what is true in an ever- changing world.
Sharp said the success of the program depends on a large network of volunteers and supporters.
“While we have a great committee and so many people donate their time and supplies, we are always looking for new people to join our committee,” she said. “Some of us no longer have VBS-aged children and while we love doing it, we are looking for parents of younger children to come pass the torch.”
No pre-registration is required for this event. Families are encouraged to register at the door.
