Drifterfest ready to roll

Excitement is building for the second annual ‘Drifterfest’ to be held on June 6 at the Missouri Valley City Park.

Registration will be held from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., with awards being distributed at 3:30 p.m. Dash plaques and goody bags will be handed out for the first 100 entries.

“We’re hoping to draw more interest this year,” stated Drifterfest spokesman Ron Mace. “We’re holding this on the same weekend as Gateway to the West Days (Blair, Neb.), and that’s a great draw. We’re hoping to get some of their car guys to come across the river and see what we have to offer.”

The Missouri Valley Drifter Car Club was formed in 1959 and lasted for roughly ten years. Interest and participants faded and it went away. The Drifter Car Club restarted back in 2024, and they are looking to build and maintain their classic status.

“Right now, we have parts laying all over the floor, and we’re trying to make the pieces fit,” Mace added. “We are in the rebuilding phase, and we’re hoping to lay the foundation for years ahead.”

Funds raised from this event will go toward the scholarship programs for area schools for the graduates who are entering the trades programs.

AWARDS

Awards will be given in the cars, trucks, two motorcycles and a UTV division. There will also be Specialty Awards for the Best 60’s car; Best 4-Door; Drivers Pick; Best Convertible; Best Import; and the Pet Rock Pick Award. There will also be cash awards for the top two Car Clubs.

ENTERTAINMENT

Thoughout the day, this event will provide plenty of entertainment for all types of families. The Missouri Valley Gathering Market will be on hand all day, the Valley Lodge #232 will sponsor a Cornhole Tournament, Watson Steam Train will provide free train rides, as well as family friendly bounce-houses for children of all ages. There will be a raffle for a RECTEQ Bullseye Electric Pellett Smoker Grill, and a RTRID 20 Cooler. Lunch will be provided by the Logan Fire & Rescue Association.
