BV’s Tucker Murphy selected for $100,000 National Math Acceleration Program

National Math Stars announced the selection of Tucker Murphy, a 4th-grade student at Boyer Valley Elementary School, as part of their 2025 cohort. Currently serving communities across seven states, National Math Stars is a 10-year, fully funded academic initiative designed to support gifted young mathematicians.

Tucker Murphy was selected from a pool of thousands of nominations based on academic excellence, passion for mathematics, and school leader recommendations. As a National Math Star, he will receive a long-term package of support valued at over $100,000, which includes:

  • Weekly one-on-one math mentoring
  • Advanced math learning opportunities
  • STEM enrichment materials and opportunities
  • Invitations to math competitions and summer camps
  • Long-term support from 3rd grade through high school - all at no cost to the family

“We are incredibly proud of Tucker Murphy for this achievement,” said Scott Frohlich, Boyer Valley Elementary Principal. “It’s a remarkable opportunity that will help him thrive academically and open doors in STEM for years to come.”

The National Math Stars program aims to identify and nurture the mathematical talent of exceptional students who may otherwise face barriers to advanced learning. Each year, only a select group of nominated students is invited to join the cohort.

“We are so proud of Tucker for being selected for National Math Stars,” said Alisha Murphy, “We hope this opportunity will open doors for his future and set him up for a lifetime of learning and growth in STEM and beyond.”

Alisha added, “We want to thank Scott and all of the staff at Boyer Valley who have always recognized something exceptional in Tucker and made sure he was both challenged and supported. We would not be in this position without these extraordinary educators who continually go above and beyond for their students.”

Tucker stated, “It’s great to have this opportunity to learn with some of the best students in the United States.”
