Aggie Lou Blaziek passed away July 13, 2024, in Missouri Valley, at the age of 105 years, 9 months, 15 days.

Lou was born at home on Sept. 28, 1918, to George Lester and Lucile (Nusum) Hermes.

She attended school in Council Bluffs, graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1937. She studied Home Economics at the University of Omaha. Lou taught country school until her marriage. She married Willard Axtell in July of 1940. To this marriage four children were born: twins Gerry Sue and Larry Rue, followed by Kirby, and then Dennis. Lou concentrated on her family and supported her children through years of 4-H, school, and church activities.

She married Herman Blaziek in July 1969 and was blessed with Herman’s adult children: Bill, Bob, Vernon Blaziek and Diane (Blaziek) Gellerson.

Lou was an expert in all textile arts and shared that knowledge by teaching the stitching arts of sewing, tailoring, knitting, crocheting, tatting and even cobblering. Lou was a long-time member of Missouri Valley Christian Church and assisted there with treats for the Kicks program and with many funeral and event dinners.

Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Herman; her parents; siblings, Georgette Yankovich, Lorry Hermes; sons, Larry, Kirby, and Dennis Axtell; stepson, Bob Blaziek; and grandson, Patrick Axtell.

Lou is survived by daughter, Gerry Sue (Salvatore) Rinella; grandchildren: Michelle (Gary) Mefferd, Julie (Steve) Wild, Rebecca (Doane) Baber, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Siebert, Kristin (Martin) Leon, Jennifer (Matt) Ball, Heather (Brad) Godwin, Jacki Walker, Renee (Tony) Vialpando, Bill Axtell, Emily Axtell, Michael Rinella, Katie (Bruce) Wertelka, and Anthony Rinella; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces, nephews, and many many friends.

Funeral Service was conducted by Pastor Randy Williams on July 23, 2024, at the Missouri Valley Christian Church.
