Logan-Magnolia senior Corbin Reisz knew he had the target on his back entering the 2025 State Wrestling Championships. But he approached each match the same, none bigger than the one before, focusing on taking his shots and setting his tempo each match.
Reisz was in command the entire four days, recording three technical falls and a 10-3 decision in the Class 1A State Final to earn the 150-lb Class 1A State Championship, his fourth state medal, and his second consecutive state title.
“It means the world to me,” Reisz stated on claiming his second straight state title, and fourth consecutive state medal. “I’ve had so many people backing me, my dad (Doug) and brother (Briar) in my corner, Coach (Dan) Thompson, all my youth coaches, my ‘suite’ family, the Lo-Ma wrestling community, I could not have done it without them.”
Corbin becomes the seventh state champion in school history, and it was the fifth consecutive year a Panther has walked out with a state title. He wraps up an outstanding career with back-to-back undefeated seasons (2025, 56-0; 2024, 47-0), two state titles, four state medals, and a career record of 194-8.
“Once you reach this (state) level, every match is tough, there are no ‘easy’ wins,” Reisz stated after his semifinal victory. “I was a little nervous in the semifinal victory, not sure why, I knew what the kid was going to do. The Lo-Ma fans have been so supportive during this run, and they help calm my nerves. Win or lose, they will give me the same support no matter the result.”
“The support I receive is unbelieveable, and with my brother (Briar) and father (Doug) in my corner, I was ready to finish it off on a high note. I took the aggressive approach this entire tournament, I wanted to make a statement, I want the bonus points, looking for the tech falls, I’m thankful God has given me this opportunity, I have the technique and conditioning, and I don’t think anyone can hang with me.”
Corbin will be taking his talents to wrestle at the University of Nebraska-Kearney in the fall of 2025.
“I was relaxed the entire tournament and ready to finish strong. I have the best coaches, as my dad and brother help me with the mental aspect, and Dan Thompson is the best at game planning for every wrestler we face. All the practices and open mats I’ve gone to since I was five years old, makes it all the sweeter during the Saturday night grand march. I can’t say enough about my family, and it means so much that they came out to support me.”
